MCMXXXIX documents personal narratives of the Second World War and is a work in progress as Margherita continues to collect interviews with surviving members of the lost generation. The project explores the impact of the war on personal and national identity and examines witnesses from across borders, religions and socio economic backgrounds. In the spirit of WG Sebald, this aims to be a cinematic essay about the movement of peoples, personal identity and memory.
